Swedish Forest Soil Inventory
Metadata
In English: The Swedish Forest Soil Inventory is part of the national environmental monitoring commissioned by the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency.
In Swedish: Markinventeringen är en del av den nationella miljöövervakningen på uppdrag av Naturvårdsverket.
Some information, such as the location of the plots, is confidential.
The goal of the inventory is to follow the environmental status of Swedish forest soils and other natural lands.
Each year, inventory and sampling are made on a little more than 1 000 permanent plots. The samples are used for analyses of the chemical characteristics of the soil and for determining the species composition of fungal communities with DNA methods. The inventory renders data that is used within the Swedish Green House Gas reporting to the UN and EU, the follow-up on national environment goals, and in research.
The inventory started in 1983 in cooperation with the Swedish National Forest Inventory.
