Nötsvinnsprojektet – nötköttsförluster på svenska gårdar
By reducing beef losses where they are greatest, on farms, the entire beef chain becomes more sustainable. We get more meat from the same production and can reduce the suffering of production animals if effective preventive measures are identified and disseminated. -
Farming in a changing climate: Increased resilience for sustainable Arctic char farming (ResiChar)
Climate change poses a threat to the sustainable growth of Arctic char farming, which in Sweden is mainly conducted in cold water areas in the north. The ResiChar project aims to strengthen Swedish char farming and secure it against climate change. The goal is higher survival and productivity. -
The Feed of the Future for poultry, fish and pork
The project brings together researchers and stakeholders from across the food chain to jointly develop the feed of the future for production animals. The goals include producing and selling fish, pork, poultry, and eggs from animals fed with climate-smart, circular feed. -
Can improved function of crop and gizzard reduce crop fill at broiler slaughter?
The goal is to increase knowledge about why some chickens have filled crop at slaughter and to identify ways to prevent and reduce the problem. Discarding carcasses due to feed residues in the crop leads to increased food waste and economic losses for chicken farmers and slaughterhouses.

Beijer Laboratory for Animal Science (BLAS)
The research at the Beijer Laboratory for Animal Science (BLAS) aims to make better use of data automatically collected at high-tech farms so that management and breeding of future generations of dairy cows may be as efficient as possible. -
Ruminant management
Our research on management of ruminants primarily covers dairy cows. Research projects often include animal welfare, animal health, the efficiency of production systems and possibilities to adjust grazing, housing and technology to the biology of the animals. -
Idisslarnutrition
We research and teach about ruminant feeding and nutrition both nationally and globally. Our research aims to develop knowledge on how different feeding strategies, feed ingredients, and feed additives affect the animals, production, and environmental impact.
